Gomutra or gaumutra (Sanskrit: गोमुत्र; cow urine) is a traditional Indian medicine from Ayurveda for cure, and purification in Vaastu Shastra for medical purposes. Gomatra is also an important component of the mixture called Panchagavya, which is also used in Ayurveda.

The use of pregnant cow is considered special; It is claimed that special hormones and minerals are included.
Cow urine is also used in folk medicine in Mymar and Nigeria.


Benefits and Uses of cow urine

In religious rituals

In Hinduism, cow urine as a medicinal beverage has special significance. The spraying of cow urine is also called the spiritual hygiene effect. The cattle were a basic economic unit in ancient India, and cows are sacred in Hinduism and their slaughter is prohibited.



For pharmaceutical purposes

In Ayurveda, the tribe is considered to be helpful in the treatment of leprosy, stomachache, swelling and cancer. A mixture of gomutra, triphala and cow milk is used for the treatment of anemia. It is also used in the treatment of fever, which is combined with black pepper, curd, and ghee .Gumutra, Neem bark, Vasaka bark, Kurilo bark, Kaner leaves are also used medicinal. The mixture of the cow urine and Daruharidra is used for epilepsy. A study  claimed that cancer patients may also benefit from this. 

it is also used for peptic ulcer, some types of cancers, liver and asthma diseases. 

In 2010, a US-based patent was given to the Go-Science Center for drug-based drugs in Devlopar, funded by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangstha and the National Environment Engineering Research Institute, which claimed that DNA was claimed to prevent oxidative damage.

Recent movements have advocated regular drinking of cow urine for their perceived health benefits,  and it is marketed as a health drink. In Kanpur issued soft drinks containing 5% distilled cow urine in bullet, two flavors, orange and lemon. It also included herbs such as basil, conch and brahmi. In 2009, the Cow Protection Department of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in Haridwar announced plans to release a similar product in the form of cola drink.

For production of rice, gomutra is used as a compost. Jivamuth is a fertilizer made from cow urine, cow dung, jaggery, pulse flour and rhizosphere soil mix. After boiling, it is called a mixture of gumura, custard apple leaves and neem leaves. Work as a bioplastide.
In 2012, the Veterinary and Animal Science College in Wayanad district started to sell the packed tomatoes and panchagavya. The products were mainly directed towards organic farming with claims that this would reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Gometra has to increase plant resistance and Panchgavya has to increase the growth of soil bacteria and improve fertility. The head of the institute, Joseph Mathew, said that the quality of assurance was given to the urine collected before the day of cows, but it was not suitable for medicinal purposes.
